I am a multiracial, queer woman of indigenous decent (tiwa-reconnecting).

I received a B.S. in Integrative Therapeutic Practices from Metro State University of Denver in 2008 with a clinical concentration (holistic pre-med) and a minor in Spanish. With the ultimate goal of creating my own integrative practice- rooted in ancestral wisdom- I earned my Master Herbalist East/West Botanicals Certification, became a Certified Reiki Master/Teacher III, studied Functional Medicine, Nutrition, training in the Polyvagal theory and Certification in the Safe and Sound Protocol, Thai Massage, Placenta Encapsulation, and have 4 Crossfit certifications (I coached for 7 years). Doing intensive coaching and holistic practices, meant that deeply rooted emotional issues, traumas, and challenging life experiences consistently became a part of the process of healing.

Naturally, I felt that I should continue to grow as a practitioner (a lifelong practice) and considered medicine or psychotherapy as two potential options. Ultimately what I found in my practice was that often the roots of physical ailments are unprocessed emotional/psychological/spiritual concerns (somatic symptoms) and that simply treating one’s physical body was not enough. In order to support health on the deepest level, the mind/body/spirit(heart) all need to be addressed. Northwestern’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program was rooted in psychodynamic theory, highly integrative, self-reflective (healer, heal thyself!) and multiculturally emphatic—so it was a perfect fit.

I am deeply connected with nature- harvesting wild medicines ethically, spending as much time outdoors as I can being active, connecting to the nature of our bodies’ wisdom, the nature of being an intersectional human on the many spectrums of experience, the nature of relating to others and ourselves (past and present). This is a philosophy that flows into the way I practice. I wanted to decolonize the way we heal ourselves and I continue to pursue this goal.

Sexuality is an element of nature, our nature as human beings. Yet another area containing a wide spectrum of experiences and identities that Therapists truly need specialized training in order to support the whole person-reducing shame and increasing joy and self-acceptance, and enhancing one’s connections. I am currently pursuing my Certified Sex Therapist training through the Sexual Health Alliance, in accordance with the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and therapists-under supervision by Robyn Flores, LMFT; LPC, NCC, Supervisor in Colorado. I completed my internship in a Sex-Therapy site with a wide array of folx and goals related to sexuality.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (AMCD), the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Communities (SAIGE), and the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) serving on the Committee for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Social justice is an imperative.

As a self-reflective practitioner, I make it my mission to continue to grow and challenge myself to look at my own biases and experiences. I am a therapist with a therapist and actively walk my red road. It would be a great honor to walk with you on yours.
